A decorated Reservist Officer in the Philippine Air Force, Col. Ernesto S. Levanza brings to SAPPHIRE CARGO a brand of discipline and no nonsense to professionalism. A management graduate from one of the leading business schools in the Philippines, NESTOR”, has been quite successful in effectively managing his companies which are engaged in various business activities for more than a quarter of a century now. Nestor was commissioned as an Air Force Reservist Officer in 1993. He became a Lieutenant Colonel the following year. In 2002, he was promoted to full Colonel. He has served in various positions in the Philippine Air Force, most recent of which is as Wing Commander of the Reserve Airlift and Tactical Support Wing of the Air Reserve Command, with units in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. He is an honorary member of the Philippine Military Academy Masikap Class 1977.
As an Air Force Reservist officer, Nestor has already received numerous awards and decorations. Among these are the Gawad sa Kaunlaran Medal, several Military Merit Medals, Military Commendation Medals, Combat Kagitingan Badge, Lapulapu Katapatan Badge, Civic Action Medals, Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Ribbon, Anti-Dissidence Campaign Medal, and various plaques of recognition and commendation.
In 1995, he joined the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary. In 1996, he became the Commander of the 103rd Squadron with the rank of Captain. In 1999, he was promoted to Commodore and was named Wing of the Air Operations Wing, the Flying Unit of the PCGA. In 2002, he was promoted to Rear Admiral.
Today, he is the Commander of the Auxiliary Tactical Operating Forces, the mother unit of all major operating commands of the PCGA, like the Air Operations Wing, the Special Operations Group, the Maritime Search and
Rescue Group, the Special Services Group, the Canine Group, and the Auxiliary Fleet.
As a PCGA member, Nestor has already received the PCG Commandant’s Unit Citation Medal, the PCGA National Commander’s Unit Citation Medal, Outstanding Achievement Ribbon, Distinguished Service Ribbon, Merit Medals, Search and Rescue Medals, Commendation Medals, Civic Action Medals, Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Medals and numerous plaques of recognition and certificates of commendation.
Nestor is the President of Club 86, a shooting club that has produced three World Speed Shooting Lady Champions, who happen to be his daughters. He is also a member of the United Nations Rotary Club, where he is a Paul Harris Fellow. He is a licensed helicopter and fix wing pilot.
Nestor learned the basics of cargo handling in his early job with a large logistics company. After getting his license as a customs broker, he set up Sapphire Cargo Movers, Inc.
